Bill to cap Cobell attorney fees to $50M referred to committees

H.R.887, a bill to limit attorney fees in the Indian trust fund lawsuit to $50 million, has been referred to two committees in the House.

Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) introduced the bill on March 2. Rep. Doc Hastings (R-Washington) is listed as a co-sponsor.

The bill was referred to the House Natural Resources Committee. Hastings serves as chairman of the committee and Young is chairman of its Subcommittee on Indian and Alaska Native Affairs.

The bill also was referred to the House Judiciary Committee. Neither committee has scheduled a hearing on the bill.
